Violence-Stricken

The blows of violence strike, the pain takes over
My body trembles, and my heart bleeds
Tender bones, bruises on my skin
The pain burns; everything feels like a wicked game
Blow after blow, kicks and chokeholds
An evil that escalates, no hope left
I struggle, but it’s an endless spiral
I want to flee, but the threat still hangs in the air
I want to rise again, to resurrect and heal
But the tyranny of violence threatens; I die a little inside every day
I wish to rid myself of the shadows of violence
And find my way forward, even though it feels like a distant dream.
